Create your first subscription plan
This walks through building a “Subscribe & save” offer end to end — from creating the plan to seeing it live on a real product page.
You’ll need: the app installed, and at least one product you want to make subscribable.
1. Create the plan
- Open the RebillCart admin and go to Plans → Create plan.
- Name it something you’ll recognize later, e.g. “Coffee — every 4 weeks.”
- Choose Pay-as-you-go billing (charged each delivery) — the most common choice for a replenishment product like coffee, supplements, or pet food.
- Set the frequency to every 4 weeks.
- Add a 15% discount to give customers a reason to subscribe over a one-time purchase.
- Leave minimum/maximum cycles blank for now — you can always add a commitment period later.
- Under Products, attach the product you want to sell on subscription.
- Click Save.
Your plan is now live — but nothing will show on the storefront until the widget block is added to your product template.
2. Add the widget to your product page
- Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize, and open a product page template.
- Add block → RebillCart Subscription Widget.
- Save.
Full detail on this step: Add the storefront widget.
3. Test it
- Preview the live storefront (not just the theme editor) for the product you attached the plan to.
- Select Subscribe & save, confirm the 15% discount and “every 4 weeks” frequency both show correctly, and add to cart.
- Complete checkout on a development store using a Shopify test payment gateway .
- Confirm the new subscription appears under Subscriptions in the RebillCart admin, with the right frequency, discount, and next billing date.
Next steps
- Customize the storefront widget to match your brand’s look.
- Set up failed-payment recovery so a bounced card doesn’t quietly kill this subscription later.
- Read the full Subscription Plans reference for tiered discounts, minimum/maximum cycles, and archiving.
